A National Symposium on Marine Plants is being organized by the Centre of Advanced Study in Marine Biology, Annamalai University, Parangipettai - 608 502, Tamilnadu in collaboration with the Seaweed Research and Utilization Association (SRUA) during 23rd to 25th September, 2010.
The symposium will focus on various aspects of ecology, biology, culture and biotechnology of marine algae, phytoplankton, seagrasses and mangroves of India. The symposium will provide an opportunity to researchers, faculties, students and entrepreneurs to have discussion and deliberation on various aspects of marine plants.
The General Body Meeting of the Seaweed Research and Utilisation Association will be held on the evening of 24-09-2010.
REGISTRATION FEE
Bonofide P.G. Students:Rs.  250; All others(before31-07-2010):Rs.  750 (after 31-07-2010):Rs.1000
Working lunch and Tea will be provided free of charge to all participants during the symposium days.
Abstracts and full papers in duplicate with CD may be sent to the Convenor and Registration Fee to the Organizing Secretary by Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at any bank in Annamalainagar or Chidambaram.

Accommodation will be arranged in the University Guest House on payment.

The venue of the symposium is Annamalai University, Annamalainagar (Chidambaram), Tamilnadu, Chidambaram / Parangipettai is well connected by Train and Bus and 240 km south of Chennai.
AWARD FOR BEST PAPER PRESENTATION
Two best paper awards one for Technical Session presentation and another for poster presentation will be given to encourage young researchers of 35 year and below. A citation and cash prize of Rs.1000/- would constitute each award.
PUBLICATION
The papers presented in the symposium will be published as a special issue of the Seaweed Research and Utilisation Journal.
